President’s Monthly Letter
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
—Harriet Tubman
So are we all dreamers?
It can be hard to have the strength, patience and passion that Harriet Tubman describes and sometimes things seem overwhelming and frustrating as we look for ways to change the world. But as members of our club we are united by the dream to “Build a Better World for Women and Girls” and wow, as you read this newsletter you will see that we are all doing just that! Together we are supporting one another, supporting the members of our Z Clubs, making education possible for women through our expanding scholarship programs and just connecting, one woman at a time.
Thank you all for jumping into our new year with energy and camaraderie. Thank you all for being there to help one another and to welcome our new members as they find their way to help change the world.
Now we look ahead to Zing, and yes, there is work to do, but if we each jump in to help in whatever ways we can it will be fun and fruitful! We always have tired smiles on our faces after putting this fun event together and this year will be no exception.
Thank you to our newest members for getting into the thick of our club so quickly by supporting scholarships, book deliveries, Z Clubs and just about everything that we do. We are so happy to have you with us.
- Pam

It is estimated that we distribute over 7,000 books a year to our foodbanks and other prorams! (Distribution total = >70,000 over 10 years).
Zonta International President Ute Scholz explains "Each year, Zonta members around the world celebrate International Women's Day and Zonta Rose Day by giving tribute to the people who have most inspired them ...” This is why for over 20 years the Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County has commemorated this day by honoring women in our community who have empowered women locally and or around the world.
It’s time to cast your vote.
In the next week you will receive a ballot to vote for the 2024 Women of Achievement. Please nominate a woman in our community for her work Building a Better World for Women and Girls. locally or around the world. Please select a candidate who you believe most exemplifies our club’s mission which states:
Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County, as part of Zonta International, works to advance the status of women and girls worldwide through service and advocacy. We envision a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman can achieve her full potential.
The Zervice Committee is planning for service projects with the Z Club and the Golden Z Club. We will keep you posted as we work out our spring partnership with our Advocacy Committee to support to the Z Club and GZ Club on their The Culture of Respect project.

organizations to say we will not go back and we will never give up. The rallying cry “Women’s Rights are Human Rights “ informs everything Zonta Foothills Club does to make the world a better place for women and girls. We stand against human trafficking, domestic violence, child marriage and in support of the ERA. Today, in 2024, we fight to protect women’s reproductive healthcare choices and to make abortion safe and legal throughout the country.

Human trafficking is a pervasive and versatile crime. Traffickers and exploiters adapt all too easily to changing environments — including the COVID-19 pandemic.
A new Polaris report, “Human Trafficking During the COVID and Post-COVID Era,” examines National Human Trafficking Hotline data from January 2020 through August 2022. The report highlights pandemic-related trends while reinforcing what we already know about how trafficking happens and who is most vulnerable.

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE ZONTA USA CAUCUS?
The Zonta USA Caucus has been busy on many fronts -- ending child marriage, NGO CSW, climate action, MMIW issues, ERA, women's health, and ending violence against women. To read the latest Zonta USA Caucus Advocacy Bulletin, click here. Learn how you can be involved.
Voter Voice is a tab on the the Zonta USA Caucus Fast Action Friday page. This is an important tool to track and advocate for bipartisan federal legislation benefiting women and girls.
When the USA Caucus identifies proposed bills that don’t yet have bipartisan support but benefits women and girls, and aligns with the Zonta’s mission and vision it is discussed and vetted to decide if this is something the ZUSA Caucus wants to support through Fast Action Fridays. Check it out…Just click on the button that says TRACK LEGISLATION and it will take you to the webpage dedicated to Zonta tracking bills that are being considered for USA advocacy action.
