Women’s Reproductive Rights are Human Rights

The long history of advocacy around “women’s rights are human rights” features activists from the Global South and women of color in the US. In 1945, at the United Nations founding, courageous Latin American feminists played a critical role in advancing “women’s rights” into the category of human rights. “Women’s Rights are Human Rights “ informs everything the Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County does to make the world a better place for women and girls. We are united, whether standing against human trafficking, preventing domestic violence, eliminating child marriage, working to pass the ERA, and today, in 2024, fighting to protect women’s reproductive healthcare choices and make abortion safe and legal throughout the country.

Zonta Internatioal Calls Us to Action

 Zonta International, the Zonta USA Caucus calls on our Clubs to protect women’s reproductive health care choices and abortion access, consistent with Zonta International's Reproductive Health Policy and Zonta International’s statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.

We Join With Other Coloradans to Protect Reproductive Rights

The Zonta Foothlls Club of Boulder County defends a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her own body; we believe this to be fundamental. That’s why our January business meeting Zonta Foothills Club members voted overwhelming to endorse the campaign by the Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedoms which will bring this issue to Colorado voters in the 2024 general election. This November we hope that Coloradans will have the opportunity to speak with their votes and enshrine this right in our state Constitution. Ballot Initiative 89 will do just that. We will not go back, not now, not ever.

And on Saturday, January 27th at 11 am at the Boulder County Courthouse on the Pearl Street Mall. Bring your family and friends to a rally hosted by the YWCA Boulder County and our Women’s Collaborative of Boulder County partners. Volunteer petition circulators will be on hand to collect signatures.
